This is a truly great flat iron. I purchased it nearly a year ago, use it at least 3 times a week, and it still works perfectly. It heats up remarkably quickly, which is handy of you want to touch up on your way out the door, and even my thick hair stays incredibly straight all day. I would recommend also purchasing the Chi 44 Iron Guard Thermal Protection Spray to keep hair from getting dry. The only tiny problem I’ve noted is some squeakiness in the hinges, which began a few months after purchase (really not that big of a deal). As a side note, the color is very shiny and fun, and the case is great for going on trips. Really superb product.

LOVE IT! - Honey Babe -
I am so glad that I bought this iron. I’ve owned a flat iron before (different brand) and it never worked as well as my new CHI. This CHI enables to straighten my naturally wavy hair straight, shiny and silky smooth in 5 minutes or less. This is the best thing I’ve ever bought for myself. It was way way worth it!

I bought a flat iron from Farouk for my daughter two weeks before Christmas. She began to use it on December 26th. January 27th the iron surged with heat, burned my daughter’s hair (so that she had to cut the fried hair off) then quit working all together. Farouk said they only guarantee their products for 30 days and too bad! They would not work with me at all to replace, refund or repair the iron. I will NEVER purchase from them again!

My hair is super thick and layered to my shoulders. I am Black/African American and have 2 types of curls- tight and soft, then the coarse naps at the middle-back of my head (about 3″ in diameter). This iron is FANTASTIC. Seriously. I have a Conair ceramic iron that does okay, but the poof comes back to my hair too soon. This Farouk Biosilk iron is big time goodness. It’s totally fighting the friz for me. I also use the CHI Iron Guard Spray. I almost bought a CHI (original), but this was cheaper and allowed me to control the temperature. The CHI Turbo was more than I wanted to spend because I’m a pretty cautious spender. What else? Oh! Some irons get HOT on the outside, but I had this one all the way up to 420F at some parts and the outside never got hot.
My only concern is that the “on” light quickly flickers once it’s at full heat. My
Conair’s light flashes slow and steadily until it’s reached the desired temp. That makes sense to me. The way this iron flickers just seems a little odd, so I’m checking www.farouk.com to see what’s up.
Anyway, BUY THIS IRON. Seriously. I don’t leave a LOT of immediate reviews (not many at all for that matter). I’m in hair love.

Gets the job done - Lightning bug -
After buying this product nearly 2 years ago, I was happy with it. It seemed to flat iron hair smoothly. Now, everytime I use it, I break hair and it gets stuck in the flat iron. So after only 2 years, I am looking to buy a different kind of straightener. I would not recommend this product. I would definitely spend a little extra money to ensure healthy hair.

This is a GREAT product but the sellers, Beauty Signature Group LLC. are rude, used foul language and hung up on me! I contacted Amazon and was strongly urged to leave feedback. Amazon provided me a refund. If you are willing to risk ordering from a company who will not stand behind the very products they offer AND are willing to put up with their aforementioned customer service, then by all means - buy from them. Otherwise, ignore them and shop elsewhere!

This product lasted me only 6 months. To get it repaired I had to pay dollars to Farouk Services. It took them 5 weeks. They sent me back a cheaper, NON CERAMIC hot iron! DO NOT BUY CHI!

i though when i bought this chi i thought it was going to work like magic and one strip of my hair would be thin and silky well i was wrng it takes alot of work and alot of burning hair my hair was already burned from last straightener now this!!!! Well then i had my dad buy the conditioning stu on here for chi better results my hair was how i imagened and i was real happy with my hair but its not easy for an 12 year old girl to straighten hair but basicly im telling you to buy the chi conditioning with it it will have better results

I had this Chi for almost two years before the power switch broke off…probably my own fault. BUT if you call Chi they will give you an address to send your straightener to. If you send a check, they will either fix or most of the time REPLACE your straightener. Buy it.

My roommate used this the day after I got it in the mail. I was the second person to use it and it no longer worked. The light wouldn’t come on, the plates wouldn’t heat up, etc. Thankfully, Amazon had no problem with me returning it. If yours functions, it seems like a good value with the free hair products you get with it.

I recieved this item last year for my birthday (November, 2007). I don’t use it every day, but I do use it a lot. Just this month (December, 2008) I was heating up the iron. I went back to check on it after about three minutes, and the plates were completely melting off the iron. I liked this iron a lot and got much good use out of it (which is why I still gave it 2 stars). My only original complaint was the lack of temperature control. But it’s unacceptable to have the plates melt right off, especially one month after the warranty expires.

I got my new Chi and just love it! My hair stays straight all day long and it is normally naturally curly/wavy. The spray and silk serum that come w/ it are great products! They work well and smell great. You definitely need to use them though, as it does get VERY VERY hot. Overall, very happy w/ the purchase and worth the big price
